“Where is this whitewashed town built into a cliffside?“
Spain – Situated in a river gorge, the cliffside village of Setenil de las Bodegas, Spain, is home to unusual dwellings built directly into the overhanging boulders. Originally a Moorish town, Setenil is home to a 12th-century castle from the Almohad period. The village’s name is believed to have derived from the Roman Latin phrase “Septem nihil” (“Seven times nothing”) after the Christians failed to capture the town seven times. Today, the village is not only famous for its unique structures but also for its pastries and meats, particularly pork and chorizo sausage. :
